Out of date fine!

Out of date!I did a double take yesterday when I saw the size of the fine Tesco received for selling out of date products. A whopping £7.56Million for 22 breaches of the Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations, dating back to 2016 and 2017 across 3 Birmingham stores. That’s the equivalent of £343,636 per breach, with no reported incidents of food poisoning or deaths to the best of my knowledge. They also had to pay prosecution costs of a further £95,000 as well.Fines of this scale are very sobering. In times like we live in today, it could be tempting for a business to tighten belts and cut costs in food safety. From the size of the fines issued to Tesco, it would appear to be a very false economy indeed.https://lnkd.in/djNjUJu
